SIZE:
MATERIALS:
Approx. 700g (25oz) aran-weight yarn in Main Colour (MC)
Approx. 100g (4oz) aran-weight yarn in Contrast Colour (CC)
5.5mm and 7mm crochet hooks
ABBREVIATIONS - English notation (American notation in brackets):
CH : Chain
ST : Stitch
DC : Double Crochet (SC - Single Crochet)
HTR : Half Treble (HDC - Half Double Treble)
Dec : Decrease
Inc : Increase
GAUGE:
10cm (4inch) square = 11 sts and 8 rows worked in HTR on size 7mm hook
INSTRUCTIONS:
Note: Each row should be finished by working 1 extra chain to turn. This is not included in the instructions
Back:
Foundation Row: Using 7mm hook and MC, ch51 (includes turning ch), turn
Row 1: HTR into 2nd ch from hook, HTR in each st to end
Row 2: HTR in each st to end
Rows 3 - 42: Work as for Row 2
Finish off.
Front:
Foundation Row: Using 7mm hook and MC, ch51 (includes turning ch), turn
Row 1: HTR into 2nd ch from hook, HTR in each st to end (50 sts)
Row 2: HTR in each st to end
Rows 3 - 42: Work as for Row 2
Row 43: HTR into next 20 st, turn as normal.
Rows 44 - 47: Continue in HTR, but dec 1st at neck edge every row 4 times,
until 16 sts remain.
Rows 48 - 50: HTR in each st to end (16sts)
Finish off.
Work other side of neck from Row 43 to match, reversing shapings.
Sleeve: (make 2)
Foundation Row: Using 7mm hook and MC, ch27 (includes turning ch), turn
Row 1: HTR into 2nd ch from hook, HTR in each st to end (26 sts)
Rows 2 - 3: HTR in each st to end
Rows 4 - 34: Continue in HTR, but inc 1st at each end of next row, and
every following 3rd row 10 times to 48 sts.
Rows 35 - 38: HTR in each st to end (48sts)
Finish off.
Neck:
Join shoulder seams.
Foundation Row: Using 5.5mm hook and CC; with right side of work facing,
pick up and DC sts evenly FROM CENTRE FRONT, across back, and to centre front
again WITHOUT joining.
Row 1: DC in each st to end.
Next row: Work as for Row 1, but dec 1 st each end of each row, until neck
shaping reaches desired height.
Next row: Work 2 rows without shaping.
Finish off.
Body ribbing: (Work on front and back)
Sleeve ribbing:
Finishing: Sew up (or crochet together) side and sleeve seams.
Sew in all loose ends.
