Wedding Tips
- Buy yourself a pocket-sized notepad to use exclusively for wedding
plans, thoughts, ideas, etc. Keep it with you at all times, otherwise
you'll have lists floating around everywhere like I did..
- Take a look at the published wedding magazines - they're a great source
of ideas. I found a sampler of perfume in one that I adored so much that
I bought a bottle to wear on the day - and I've worn it ever since. (Eden)
- Stay open-minded! Your plans will almost definately change beyond recognition
as you get closer to the big day.
- If you don't see the wedding gown you want straight away, don't worry.
I did several trips around the same batch of shops over about 6 months
before finding mine. In all that time I was discovering what I didn't
want.
- Don't buy an outfit that you're not 100% sure about. I knew which was
my dress as soon as I tried it on - after trying on many others and nearly
buying a couple which were reasonable.
- Try the shoes with the dress! There are so many shades of white and
ivory that using guesswork is not advisable. I ended up returning one pair,
and dying another pair (non-returnable), before finding the ones I wore
in the shop where I bought (and stored) the dress.
- Make sure you have somebody carry at least some of the Bride's
Emergency Kit throughout the day. That's one less thing to worry about.
- Have a video done if you can. A family member did ours, and it really
brings the memories flooding back to watch it. It brings the day back to
life.
- Don't be scared to add your own personal
touches to the day. We designed and printed our own invitations
which everyone adored. I made my own gift baskets
for the Hen Night. The bridesmaid's mother (my sister-in-law) made the bridesmaid's dress and headdress. My mother made up the bridesmaid's basket of flowers.
